Fireplace Cleaning and Inspection
Chimney Cleaning ~ starting at $140 (Includes NFPA211 Level I inspection)
Each spring, homeowners shift into "clean-up" mode. They clean windows, gutters and garages but they usually don't inspect or clean their chimneys, despite the potential for damage to their property or even to their lives.
According to the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA), a non-profit institution dedicated to public and chimney professional education, virtually all chimney and fireplace fires are preventable. Both CSIA and the National Fire Protection Association recommend yearly chimney inspections to help prevent these hazards.
An annual chimney inspection by a CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep® is small investment that can reduce the danger of chimney fires or carbon monoxide poisoning. CSIA Certified Chimney Sweeps have earned the industry's most respected credential by passing an intensive examination based on fire codes, clearances and standards for the construction and maintenance of chimneys and venting systems.
At American Chimney, our C.S.I.A. certified sweeps specialize in fireplace cleaning and inspections. We begin by a full inspection from the top of the fireplace where we inspect the chimney cap, chimney crown, flashing, and brickwork. Our technicians will also inspect the inside of the chimney and fireplace. This includes the smoke chamber, damper, firebox, lintel, hearth, and the ash dump door.
Based on our findings during this inspection, our crew will determine if a cleaning is needed. If so, they will then use a stiff wire brushing and strong vacuum system that cleans very thoroughly leaving no mess for you the homeowner.
After the chimney and fireplace inspection and/or cleaning process, our findings are then presented to you in a written Evaluation Report before we leave your home

Annual Gas Fireplace Inspection ~ starting at $140
Like most gas-fired appliances, a gas fireplace requires regular annual maintenance to ensure its safety and efficiency. Routine maintenance helps maintain low energy costs and ensures that your fireplace will continue to be operational. Our inspection insures your fireplace is operating safely and with maximum efficiency. With no exceptions, all gas fireplaces should have service annually.
NFPA Level II Chimney Inspection ~ starting at $250
These inspections are required for real estate transactions, insurance purposes and whenever there is a change in the use of the chimney flue or the connected appliance. Level II inspections include video inspection of the interior of the chimney flue as well as inspection of the attic and basement areas of the chimney.
NFPA Level III Chimney Inspection ~ Priced per Quote
Required when a Level I or Level II inspection warrents that a further, invasive, inspection must be performed to investigate suspected damage or other possible problems in hidden areas.

We also provide a complete restoration, repair, and removal of old and unsafe chimneys.

Stove / Insert Installation
Per NFPA211 and Virginia Building Code, and most Manufacturer Installation Instructions, We install all fireplace wood burning inserts, and free standing woodstoves installed into fireplaces, with a properly sized, insulated stainless steel chimney lining system, from the "vent" of the appliance, to the top of the chimney, terminating with a stainless steel chimney cover. Not only is this installation required by Virginia Building Code, it it the best and safest way to insure that your new stove or insert operates up to the specifications that it was designed, tested and listed for.
We use a single, cut to length, section of spiral wound, welded seam, corrigated stainless steel liner material. Our materials carry a conditional "Lifetime Warranty." This installation, Increases draft and reduces cooling and condensation in the flue thus reducing creosote buildup. In the event of a "Chimney fire" the lining system contains the excessive heat from your terra-cotta clay flue tiles, which are not designed to handle the heat.
